Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from dirt, wax, grease, oil, chalk, mildew and loose or peeling paint. For best adhesion, glossy surfaces should be lightly sanded. Nail holes, cracks or other surface imperfections should be properly filled, sanded smooth and dusted clean. Always wear a dust mask when sanding. All mold, mildew, and fungi must be completely and thoroughly removed. Remove by washing with a commercially available mildew wash. Wear appropriate protective equipment such as rubber gloves, goggles, and other protective clothing when handling mildew wash.
PRIMER SUGGESTIONS
Wallboard and Plaster. When applying to new concrete, plaster or texture-coated surfaces, allow the surface to cure properly. All new dry-wall and plaster must be sealed with Advanced Mold Control Paint™ MORWEAR PLUS™ 1110 Interior PVA Acrylic High Hiding Wall Primer before finish coat.
Wood. All bare wood must be sanded, wiped clean and then prime the surface with Advanced Mold Control Paint™ MORWEAR PLUS™ 1150 100% Acrylic Stain Blocking Primer.
Masonry. New masonry must cure 30 days and be free of efflorescence and alkali before painting. All unprimed masonry surfaces should be coated with Advanced Mold Control Paint™ MORWEAR PLUS™ 1150 100% Acrylic Stain Blocking Primer.
Metal. All metal surfaces must be free of rust, corrosion, or other foreign matter. If any loose or peeling material is present, it must be thoroughly removed by means of scraping, sanding or wire brushing.
Ferrous Metal and Rusty Galvanized: Prime all bare spots with Morwear Rust Inhibiting Metal Primer 4182 Red Oxide.
New and Rust Free Galvanized: Product may be applied directly without an additional primer.
Aluminum: Product may be applied directly without an additional primer.
Application Suggestions
IMPORTANT! READ BEFORE APPLICATION: If more than one package of the same color is to be used, mix together before applying to ensure uniform color and finish. Apply paint to a small test area on surface for color approval BEFORE painting entire surface.
STIR WELL BEFORE USING. May be applied by brush, roller or spray. When spraying, follow spray equipment manufacturer's recommendations carefully. Apply only when the temperature of the surface, material and air is above 50° F.
PROTECT FROM FREEZING.
NOTICE: Some redwood, cedar and fir may contain excessive amounts of Tannins (water soluble color staining bodies) which can bleed through and discolor the finish, especially white and light colors. If this occurs, allow the paint to dry thoroughly. Then apply one coat or more of stain-blocking primer to the discolored areas. Allow primer to dry thoroughly. Apply an additional coat of finish.
Finish Coat Suggestions. Use MORWEAR PLUS™ interior or exterior finishes.
10 YEAR MOLD PROTECTION: MORWEAR PLUS Advanced Mold Control Paint™ is a high performance paint line that is warranted to resist mold and mildew growth on the paint film only.
